Program Details

CADS Edmonton supports adaptive skiing and snowboarding instruction for school field trips and drop in lessons.

This program is a coordinated effort between the school and or participant, the ski area and CADS Edmonton and allows for every individual, regardless of ability, to experience skiing or snowboarding with their peers. If you are a teacher or parent planning a field trip and know of someone who would benefit from our adaptive program please contact us. Since all of our instructors are volunteers we cannot guarantee availability. The earlier we know about your event the easier it is for our volunteers to find time in their schedules. There is no payment required unless instructors pick up the lesson and the lesson is scheduled.

Please contact Sharon @ 780-721-7071 a few days prior to the field trip to see if a volunteer(s) has signed up for the school field trip.

To request a lesson with a CADS instructor(s) for your school field trip, or for a drop in lesson you need to create a profile in Snowline for the student. Use the students name for the User ID. The profile will be the students information. If the school field trip request can be filled with a volunteer(s) instructor, a CADS Alberta one day ($10.50/day) membership is required for the student and TA or parent if assisting.

Please create a profile in Snowline for the Student and Instructor that will be assisting the CADS Instructor if required (Sit Skiers require 2 instructors). The program fee of $75 helps cover the cost of the volunteer instructors(s), use of equipment and administration. The fee is $75 per student for each instructor. Schools can provide a parent/teacher aid or assistant to avoid the need for an additional instructor for sit ski students. Assistant volunteer instructors will require a one day membership and need to be an intermediate skier or snowboarder to assist. This individual is required to lift the sit ski so please only sign up if you meet these requirements.

She doesn’t always get to go out for recess as the snow can be difficult in a wheelchair. While on the sit ski, she was a bonafide celebrity with kids and adults cheering her on from the chairlift and calling out words of encouragement as she participated in this winter activity alongside her peers.
