We could not do this without our wonderful volunteers! CADS Edmonton welcomes volunteers for both on-snow (instructors) and off-snow positions. See available positions below!
The number of students who can participate in the program is directly tied to the size of our volunteer team, so register today!
PLEASE NOTE: When registering on Snowline, “Instructors” are volunteers teaching on snow while “Volunteers” are participating off-snow.
Volunteer Instructor Requirements
- Must be confident skiing or snowboarding down green and blue runs. Instructor training is provided!
- 1 day per week from January-March is ideal for our weekly programming. If you’re not available consistently, you can always join on as a floater, or pick up Field Trip requests through the season.
- $50 CADS Registration fee paid through snowline.

Yes, you will need to complete a Police Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check before programming begins. The link will be sent through Snowline. You may complete this check at no cost. DO NOT PURCHASE ONE THROUGH STERLING BACKCHECK. A link to request your PRC for free will be sent to you closer to the beginning of the season.
Instructors will be schedule for a 2 hour lesson on the day(s) they choose to volunteer. Monday Night Programs run from 6:00pm-9:00pm, and Saturday Morning Programs run from 9:30am-12:30pm. You may sign up for one or both. Programs run from mid-January to mid-March. Drop-in lessons or Field Trips times vary.
You don’t need to be an experienced instructor to join CADS! While we always encourage CASI/CSIA Certified Instructors to volunteer, it is not a requirement. All we ask is that you can ski/snowboard comfortably down blue and green runs.
We provide FREE training with certified leaders for 2 days in December, and 2 in January to get help you feel confident on the snow. Instructor Training is held at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort from 8:30am-3:30pm.
You must be 15 years or older to volunteer with CADS. If you are interested in teaching the Sit Ski discipline, you must be 18 years or older to tether the sit ski.
CADS programs are held at Rabbit Hill Snow Resort. If you sign-up for Field Trips, you may be required to teach at other hills throughout the city. At the end of each season, we also hold an optional trip to Marmot Basin!
All lift tickets will be covered by CADS Edmonton for time spent teaching, regardless of the hill.
Instructor Referral Incentive!
Volunteering is better with friends! As an incentive to bring in new volunteers, we ask that returning volunteer instructors encourage friends, co-workers, or family members to register for the upcoming season.
If your friend becomes a volunteer instructor for the current season, you will be entered into a draw for some exciting prizes!

2026/27 Volunteer Policy
CADS participant registration fees are highly subsidized through grants and fundraising events that take place throughout the year. CADS Edmonton is a volunteer run organization therefore we need your support for a variety of program related activities.
